Docile Bodies is a post-punk collective from Tilburg and Amsterdam. The band is known for their simultaneously defiant and romantic approach to post-punk, in which grand, melodic guitars and soulful vocals move effortlessly between the more wavy and raw sides of the genre. Their music centers on themes of art, nature, and family, alongside reflections on monotony and the value of hope. Following previous releases such as the single Only This (2020), the EP Arc (2022), and their debut album Light Will Come Our Way (2024), the band has performed at festivals such as Best Kept Secret, Here’s the Thing, and Geleen Calling.
WithRest sees Docile Bodies charting a new course. Where Light Will Come Our Way still sought a more cautious trust in nature and family ties, Rest trades that catharsis for eight tracks that are slower, harder to console, and deliberately unresolved. The album moves through empty spaces, memories, and broken convictions, without attempting to organize or explain them. As the band describes it, Rest listens attentively to grief — not to explain it, but to sit beside it in silence.
