About Cinetol
Cinetol is a music venue, creative hub, and café. We host around 250 concerts every year, featuring innovative bands and emerging artists. It is a space for new and alternative sounds, both local and international. Cinetol provides room for experimentation, niche music, and the many diverse communities that make Amsterdam what it is.
The rest of the building consists of various creative spaces that we rent out to cultural entrepreneurs, artists, and musicians. In addition, we offer rooms for hire for meetings and events. The face of our building is the Tolbar, a cozy, living-room-style café with a large terrace on the Tolstraat.
history
The name ‘Cinetol’ is derived from our neighbors' building, a former theosophical temple and cinema. Our building at Tolstraat 182 in De Pijp was constructed in the 1980s and was given the same name. In May 2012, the South District issued a tender to find a new tenant for the space. Our proposal was selected as the winner in January 2013, and following a positive recommendation from the CAWA, a successful crowdfunding campaign, and months of renovations, Cinetol opened in May 2014. The Tolbar was added in 2015. This firmly established the foundation for Cinetol to become a small music venue, allowing us to begin programming concerts on a more regular basis.
artistic vision
Cinetol is a stage for talent development where every music lover can discover something new. We serve as an incubator for artists aiming to perform at festivals like Eurosonic/Noorderslag within a few years or looking to advance to larger venues, such as Paradiso.
Our programming is progressive; we seek out niches and showcase artists with real potential. In doing so, we remain at the forefront of new developments within the music industry.

INTERNS
We strengthen our team with interns from September to January and from February to July. Keep an eye on our vacancies page for opportunities. We offer internships in: production | marketing | content creation | stage/sound/lighting technology.
VOLUNTEERS
We are always looking for volunteers. Our venue wouldn't be able to run at full capacity without our team of enthusiastic volunteers, who can be found behind the bar during concerts, at the box office, assisting with production and stage management, or capturing photos and other content at shows.
