THROWBACK: AFAR
At the end of September, we hosted Berlin Krautwave duo AFAR for a sold-out show. Psychedelic Krautwave, wrapped in the warmth of analog synths, raw guitar bursts, and a machine-driven pulse, all carried by a hypnotic voice. In-house videographer Julia Bootsgezel captured the evening for us.
OPEN CALL: NEWBIES
Has your band or act outgrown the rehearsal space and is it ready for the stage? On January 23rd, NEWBIES returns, and we are once again looking for four new bands to perform their own music live at Cinetol. If you have always wanted to perform but haven't had the chance yet, or if you are ready for your next step, this is your moment. As a selected band, you will play your set on our stage and also have the opportunity to further develop your skills through three workshops covering everything involved in building a band: from production and marketing to pitching your band and your online presence. Whether you have already played a few shows or have never performed before, you are welcome to apply. You can apply until October 26, 2026, via the link below.
THROWBACK: The Black Keys' Record Hang
Last Saturday, The Black Keys wrapped up their two sold-out AFAS shows with a Record Hang at Cinetol. Record Hang is a series of intimate, all-vinyl DJ nights hosted by band members Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney. During these festive events, they spin primarily unique and often obscure 45s from the 60s, 70s, and beyond, blending soul, rock, funk, and other influences. It’s not just about listening to music; it’s about discovering forgotten gems together, dancing, and sharing their love for vinyl. The event was completely sold out and went on until the early hours.
