nykolaes and Daniël Paul are two Brussels-based artists who work on music both individually and together. In 2023, they released their debut album “neofolk,” which received critical acclaim in the underground scene. In 2026, they return with a new, home-recorded album titled: “Jeudi Matin”.
nykolaes & Daniël Paul each bring their own style to the project: nykolaes’ 90s-grunge-influenced, pro-post-anti-singer-songwriter modernism and Daniël Paul’s intimate, wide-eyed lo-fi mumble-folk.
Together, they perform softly sung songs that combine guitar, homemade instruments, and simple electronic elements, with vocal performances that harmoniously drift in and out of tune, tuned to their own liking.
