December
Abel Ghekiere is a Belgian multi-instrumentalist whose sound draws from minimalist jazz, traditional folk, and field recordings. His debut album, ‘Voor het verdwijnt, en daarna’, carried traces of grief and loss, resulting in a record that offers both comfort and a gentle sway. His new music explores greater openness, softness, and euphoria, culminating in the album ‘In de verte, dit uitzicht’. He has performed this music at festivals such as Gent Jazz, BRDCST, Leffingeleuren, Into The Great Wide Open, and Motel Mozaïque, and has supported artists including Alabaster dePlume, Black Country, New Road, and caroline. On stage, he plays guitar, clarinet, and banjo, accompanied by Tobias Volckaert (sax), Orlan Ghekiere (drums), and Hendrike Scharmann (violin).
