The seventh Amsterdam edition of the International Shoegaze Festival will take place on January 30, 2027, at Cinetol, featuring Grundeis (Germany), Silk (United Kingdom), Golden Apes (Germany), Pam Risourié (France), and The Pool Of Tears (Netherlands). DJ Dragnet will also be spinning the best shoegaze and dreampop tracks.

Following a successful debut in Berlin last September, the festival now takes place in both Amsterdam and Berlin. We are now returning to Amsterdam for an evening filled with shoegaze, walls of sound, distortion, ethereal vocals, and beautiful noise with post-punk influences.

GRUNDEIS

‍

Grundeis is a four-piece band from Hamburg (DE) that combines post-punk, shoegaze, and noise into a furious mix of heavy drums, gritty guitars, and sweet melodies. The band formed in 2018 and has since released two full-length albums. The group is currently working on a third record.

‍

While the first album Amygdala was heavily influenced by the gothic and new wave culture of the 80s, the second album Every Second an Ocean was a melancholic fourteen-track journey, featuring more influences from shoegaze, psychedelic rock, and post-punk. All these genre-defying instrumental compositions are brought together by Laura’s voice and infectious melodies. Over the years, Grundeis has built an increasingly large and loyal fanbase across Europe.

GOLDEN APES

‍

For over twenty years, Golden Apes has explored the musical borderlands between post-punk, darkwave, and ethereal gaze. The band continues to push and expand the contours of their own sound. The search for a musical language too versatile to fit within strict genre boundaries is the driving force behind their work. Yet, their sound is unmistakable from the very first note.

‍

Refined melodies collide with driving basslines, dense walls of guitars with ethereal soundscapes, and pulsating drums with bittersweet melancholy. Within this rich, atmospheric whole, influences from Joy Division, The Psychedelic Furs, The Cure, and Cocteau Twins blend naturally and respectfully with contemporary references like The Horrors, White Lies, and Interpol. Golden Apes have enchanted audiences at renowned festivals such as Wave-Gotik-Treffen, Castle Party, and Murder of Crows. In addition, they have built a broad international following during tours through the United States, Canada, Russia, and Europe. Along the way, they have shared the stage with timeless icons of the scene, such as And Also The Trees, The Chameleons, Pink Turns Blue, and Clan of Xymox, as well as a younger generation of internationally acclaimed acts, including She Past Away, Whispering Sons, TRAITRS, Then Comes Silence, and A Projection.

‍

On September 18, Golden Apes released their long-awaited twelfth studio album, The Sun Came Up Tremendouslyvia Icy Cold Records. The ten tracks were recorded and produced at Thommy Hein Studios in Berlin and represent a natural evolution of the band's signature sound as they continue their creative journey. The album once again underscores Golden Apes' position as one of the most distinctive and enduring names in the international dark-alternative and post-punk scene.

PAM RISOURIÉ

‍

The music of Pam Risourié is sonic, cosmic, and androgynous, weaving shoegaze, post-rock, and slowcore into an introspective whole built from dense layers of guitars, floating melodies, and immersive atmospheres.

‍

By balancing noise and vulnerability, the band creates a sound that feels both grand and intimate. Distortion is just as important as silence, while repetition slowly gives way to emotion.

‍

Following their debut album *days of distortion* and a European tour in 2024, Pam Risourié returns with *I’ll never be human*. This second album marks a new chapter for the band and is perhaps the clearest expression of their sonic identity to date. *I’ll never be human* was released on September 18, 2026, and takes their music further into a hazy territory between the walls of sound of shoegaze, the cinematic scope of post-rock, and the understated melancholy of slowcore.

SILK

‍

Silk is one of the most exciting new names in the Northern Irish shoegaze scene. The band weaves dreamy atmospheres, hypnotic melodies, and swirling walls of guitars into a sound that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly unique. With their recognizable sound and growing reputation, Silk is rapidly developing into a band to watch in the new wave of shoegaze.

‍

The long-awaited debut mini-album *Auralux* was released on May 7, following the success of their first single, *Clementine*. Silk’s sound feels like an auditory hallucination: immersed in dreamy fuzz, only to transition into a crushing exorcism through endless reverb. Support shows with shoegaze legends Nothing, Chapterhouse, Whitelands, and Deary, as well as performances at GazeFest and Otherside Shoegaze All Dayer, have further solidified their reputation as a promising band.

THE POOL OF TEARS

‍

The Pool Of Tears is an atmospheric, instrumental solo project by Gene Teysse, who creates an immersive soundscape with just one musician and a wall of sound. He draws inspiration from wisdom, childhood memories, profound life experiences, folklore, and fantasy tales. Using memories from his past and stories he once read, he brings these worlds back to life, creating an enchanting, dreamy atmosphere with ethereal sounds that seem to come from another world.
