It has been 10 years since Stippenlift debuted with “Huilen (Kerst)” and gave a new language to complex (Christmas) feelings. With a large collection of Christmas hits and the associated holiday traumas, the artist will be visiting four music venues this December.

‍

What started as Dutch-language depriwave about difficult feelings, sensory overload, and other woes has since grown into a cult phenomenon with day-one fans, new listeners, and thousands of people who know Stippenlift primarily from strange, ‘funny,’ or confrontational posts online.

‍

‘10 Years of Christmas with Stippenlift’ is the ideal outing for anyone who doesn’t like outings, doesn’t like people, doesn’t like Christmas, but also loves Christmas, people, and outings—or feels the potential to one day be such a person.

‍

Feeling love/hate for the complexity of things together, alone—a feeling that is nowhere as palpable as it is around Christmas.

about Stippenlift

‍
Since the first release, Gemiste Kansen vol. 1 in 2016, Stippenlift has been releasing new depriwave at a high frequency: the self-proclaimed genre that has since taken on a life of its own. Through Stippenlift, singer and producer Hugo van de Poel shares his lifelong struggle with depression and living in a neurotypical world. The ‘hits’ have titles like Huilen (Crying), Autisme (Autism), Was Ik Maar Dood (If Only I Were Dead), or how about Euthanasie?! (Euthanasia?!). Few artists manage to deliver so much misery with so much energy and enthusiasm!

‍

What began as niche music has since grown into an extensive body of work, multiple alter egos, a series of sad Christmas hits with accompanying holiday performances, a tight-knit Instagram community where mental health is celebrated and discussed, and the dedicated clothing brand depriwave.

‍

Stippenlift is recommended by (some) psychologists for severe depression. Clad in depriwave, you can proudly show your mental vulnerability. Led by Stippenlift, you can dance through gender confusion. With Stippenlift, you can finally scream that you are autistic. Everything to see and feel that you are not alone.
