CELEBRATING TOMORROW’S ARTISTS TODAY

‍

For over ten years, the RIGHTABOUTNOW Festival has presented an eclectic mix of performance and performing arts, viewed through a hip-hop lens. Rooted in music, street culture, and club culture, the festival provides a stage for new voices as well as established creators from home and abroad, with this edition featuring a special focus on several artists from Suriname.

‍

Under the motto celebrating tomorrow’s artists today brings together different generations, disciplines, and perspectives.

‍

ARE WE STILL SAFE?

‍

This edition is dedicated to the question: Are We Still Safe? A question that is becoming increasingly urgent in a time when borders are hardening, freedoms are under pressure, and the space to be yourself or speak your mind is not a given for everyone.

‍
Who feels safe in public spaces? How freely can we move, both by day and by night? When does a stage, club, or city feel like a safe space where you can truly be yourself? And how do we protect the space for stories and perspectives that are not always heard?

‍
Precisely when our space is under pressure, it becomes more important to keep making space for one another. For four days, this question will be explored through various art forms, stories, and perspectives.

‍

SUNDAY FOR THE NEIGHBORHOOD

‍

On Sunday, December 6, there will be a special program for the neighborhood and families, including free exhibitions, an art market, and an afternoon of storytelling.

‍

The festival moves from the theater hall to the exhibition space, from conversation to performance, and from raw hip-hop on stage to the dance floor. Expect a unique, multidisciplinary, and eclectic mix.
